Muller claims he was never close to United move

Bayern Munich star Thomas Müller claims that he was never close to a move to Manchester United despite several rumours claiming that the Premier League outfit had made an offer for him. It was only a few weeks ago when the German international confirmed that United were one of clubs interested in signing him. However, he has expressed that he is extremely happy at the Allianz arena and is not looking for a move at this point in his career. Müller is on the verge of becoming a Bayern Munich legend after having won numerous accolades despite being only 24 years old.
The German international has also managed to come close to the World Cup record held by Miroslav Klose of 16 goals. Even at this young age, Müller has already managed to plunder nine goals in the World Cup. He has been the recipient of every major title both club and international level. In fact, the European Championship remains the only trophy that is missing from Müller’s cabinet. The striker recently renewed his contract with the German club to extend his stay until 2019. Bayern Munich have made a strong start to the defence of the league title by winning 2-0 against Stuttgart.
Müller and Bayern Munich are now preparing for the Champions League group stage match against Manchester City. “I know there was interest, but Man United were interested in a lot of players this summer. It never really got anywhere because I had just renewed my contract [until 2019], and Bayern were clear that they saw my future here. The decision for me was an easy one,” said the striker. A move to United would have reunited Müller with Louis van Gaal, who was the coach who gave him his debut at Bayern Munich several years ago.
