PARK SURPRISED AT RETURN

Former Manchester United midfielder Park Ji sung has claimed that he is surprised to see Ivory Coast international Didier Drogba return back to the Premier league with Chelsea. The Chelsea legend came back to the club two years after leaving.

During this period, he has played in China and Turkey. At the age of 36, he is almost certain to have lost his place and strength that made him a force to reckon with in the Premier League. Drogba remains as one of best Africans to have played in the English game.

Park came up against him on several occasions when United took on Chelsea. The South Korean midfielder recently announced his retirement from the game and became an ambassador at United. He will be using his considerable popularity in Southeast Asia to spread the brand of Manchester United. Due to the absence of Diego Costa and Loic Remy through injuries, it is expected that Drogba will lead the line when United take on Chelsea on Sunday. The 36-year-old recently scored his first goal, albeit from the penalty spot, after coming back in the 6-0 win over Maribor.

Drogba may have had a great record against many Premier League teams, but he has struggled against United in the past. “I am very surprised. Maybe it’s the effect of Jose Mourinho. But when Drogba left Chelsea, nobody thought he would go back there again and yet it’s happened. He’s not like the player he was before but he knows Chelsea and he knows the Premier League and he’s still got the quality to score goals as well. He’s a good option for them and he’s the kind of experienced player you need in a team. Some of the main players have changed but the way they play is not that different to when Jose Mourinho was there before,” said Park.
