Manchester United manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer has praised midfielder Scott McTominay in the aftermath of the club’s 1-0 win over Leicester City at Old Trafford. The Red Devils took an early lead through a Marcus Rashford penalty in the eighth minute and thereafter put up a strong defensive display to restrict the Foxes from a clear sight of goal.

Speaking after the game, Solskjaer was pleased with the defensive resolve shown by the players following a run of three winless league games. He added to praise the performance of McTominay, who won his aerial duels while making the joint-most recoveries during the course of the game, he told: “I thought McTominay was excellent. He lost the ball a few times, but you expect that because he’s still learning his role. He goes into tackles and he’s a leader. I wouldn’t want to go into a 50-50 with him! I thought he did excellent all day.”
