UNITED READY TO SPLASH MORE CASH THIS SUMMER

Manchester United seem to have under achieved after such investments last summer, considering built-up expectations when Coach Jose Mourinho took over, but the club is not relenting.

The Premier League side is expected to spend huge sums this summer to restock.

There have been rumours that Real Madrid might come again for David De Gea. If this happens, United have reportedly placed Atletico Madrid keeper Jan Oblak on its shortlist.De Gea came close to leaving Old Trafford in 2015 but for a clerical error that stopped the deal from going through.

Though Mourinho would face intense competition for Oblak – who was rated the best keeper in the La Liga last season after he conceded just 18 goals –,there are rumours that the Slovenian is open to the move if the terms are right.

Oblak joined Atletico in 2014 for £12.6million. He moved from Benfica but his brilliant display made the club push his release clause to £85million. The transfer record for a goalkeeper in the world of football has been held for sixteen years by Gianlugi Buffon. De Gea’s move would likely shatter this record but United would not get Oblak easily too.

The biggest clubs want the best keepers to man the goalpost and both players fit the profile. Oblak speaks fluent English and he is reported to be close to other United targets for the summer: Antoine Griezmann and Jose Gimenez. Oblak has maintained similar impressive record this season, keeping 15 clean sheets in 27 games. He was spectacular in the game against Bayer Levenkusen in the Champions League last month.

There are speculations that if United miss Oblak, other targets include Leverkusen keeper Bernd Leno and AC Milan’s Gianlugi Donnarumma.
