Muller claims he was never close to United move

Bayern Munich star Thomas Müller claims that he was never close to a move to Manchester United despite several rumours claiming that the Premier League outfit had made an offer for him. It was only a few weeks ago when the German international confirmed that United were one of clubs interested in signing him. However, he has expressed that he is extremely happy at the Allianz arena and is not looking for a move at this point in his career. Müller is on the verge of becoming a Bayern Munich legend after having won numerous accolades despite being only 24 years old.

Neuer Regarded As One OF The Best In Game

Bayern Munich goalkeeper Manuel Neuer is regarded as one of the best in the world. He enhanced his reputation even further by performing a starring role for the German national team at the World Cup 2014. Former Manchester United midfielder Paul Scholes has revealed that he would love to see the club signed Bayern Munich star Toni Kroos, who is widely expected to depart German football in the summer. New Manchester United manager Louis van Gaal has claimed that he wants to win the Premier league title in his first season at the club. This comes as an ambitious statement from the Dutchman, who has won league titles in each and every one of his previous clubs. Van Gaal has managed with the likes of Ajax, Barcelona, and Bayern Munich in his previous managerial jobs with club teams. He was already one of the favourite to replace Alex Ferguson when the Scot announced his retirement in 2005. Now, he has been the club’s first choice after they parted company with David Moyes.

Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney has claimed that he wants to be the new captain of Manchester United. After the departures of Rio Ferdinand and Nemanja Vidic, Rooney is one of the senior players at the club has been playing for them for a long time. The appointment of Louis van Gaal appeared to make Robin van Persie the number one striker at the club. The Dutchman has a great relationship with the former Bayern Munich and Barcelona manager, who is in charge of the Dutch national team now.

MCLAREN CONFIRMS VILLA APPROACH

Steve McClaren has confirmed that Aston Villa did approach him over the vacant seat in the manager post. Former England coach McClaren was paraded at The City Ground on Thursday after signing a three-year deal to succeed Billy Davies, who was sacked after losing to Swansea City in the Championship play-offs.

McClaren was on a list of potential targets to succeed Gerard Houllier after he left Villa Park on health grounds – but it was claimed he was then ruled out of contention after an adverse reaction from fans.

VAN AANHOLT EXTENDS CHELSEA DEAL

Chelsea youngster Patrick Van Aanholt has extended his Chelsea stay by four more years after signing a new contract. The 20-year-old Netherlands Under-21 defender joined the Blues from PSV Eindhoven in July 2009.

He has made fleeting first-team appearances for Chelsea, with just three starts in eight outings to his name since his arrival.

But he has gained experience during loan spells at Coventry, Newcastle and Leicester in recent seasons.

He ended the current campaign on loan with the Foxes and made 12 appearances for the Championship side managed by Sven-Goran Eriksson.

CITY TARGETTING WIN

Manchester City are determined to beat Chelsea in order to get an advantage in the race for the third position and they are targeting to exactly do that.

RICKETTS SUFFERS INJURY BLOW

Bolton Wanderers player Sam Ricketts has been ruled out for the season with an achilles injury. The Wales international full-back is expected to be out for six months and is due to have an operation on Friday.

“The likelihood is he will be out for about six months which is a big blow for Sam,” said Bolton boss Owen Coyle.

Ricketts, 29, had to be carried off on a stretcher after going to ground in an attempt to close down Victor Moses.

“He has been outstanding for us and our immediate thoughts go to him as we wish for a speedy recovery,” added Coyle.
