Danny Murphy feels Manchester United are free-flowing under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer

TalkSPORT pundit Danny Murphy has said that Manchester United are more free-flowing with their style of play under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer. The Red Devils had found themselves in a heap after the embarrassing 3-1 defeat at the hands of Liverpool and this saw the board go with the decision to sack Jose Mourinho from the managerial role.

Since then, Ole has taken charge of the club on an interim basis and the move has paid dividends for the opening weeks with United going through a five-match winning run across all competitions. Speaking to TalkSPORT, Murphy indicated that Ole has brought some much-needed freshness and the added freedom offered to the players has been demonstrative of the results.

He said:“I think the cynic would say it’s a risk because he’s won his first five and he’s brought a freshness back and put smiles on people’s faces. The football is a more free-flowing and the players are playing with more freedom. Depending on the squad you’ve got and the level of quality and maturity you have in that squad, it’s a super step to show that he trusts them, he respects them and you don’t have to sit at breakfast together if you want a lie in.”

Ole’s tenure has been assisted with a fairly winnable schedule for the Red Devils and he is expected to receive a strong test of his credentials when the club make the trip to London to face Tottenham Hotspur this weekend. Thereafter, they have another big game against Arsenal in the FA Cup fourth round towards the end of the month and the match could make or break their prospects of securing silverware.

United are still alive in the Champions League where they are scheduled to face Paris Saint-Germain at the round of 16 but very few are backing them to overcome the French champions, who have one of the world’s best attack fronts with Neymar, Kylian Mbappe, and Edinson Cavani making up the front three.
