Manchester United legend Paul Ince has said that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs to find a solution to the club’s recent run of poor form. The Red Devils have done tremendously well in the second part of the season to come on the cusp of the top four, but they have recently suffered a couple of defeats which have slightly distanced them from the Champions League places.
Speaking to Paddy Power, Ince said that Ole has done a fantastic job in reviving the club’s top-four prospects this term, but the club need to get their act together to seal the objective of Champions League football for next season, he told: “They need to be picking up results, especially when they’ve still got the likes of Man City to play if they want to make those Champions League spots. Ultimately, Man United have to be in the Champions League. It’s simply not good enough if they’re not. Don’t get me wrong, Ole has done a fantastic job in getting them to this point, but they need to finish the job off.”
Despite this, his performances have not quite translated into success for the team as a whole and United have been far off from competing for Premier League and Champions League honours since Sir Alex Ferguson left the club five years ago. Speaking to the Goalkeepers’ Union Podcast, Steele said that De Gea remains fully committed to the Mancunian giants but there could be a time where he may seek a fresh challenge to enhance his Champions League-winning prospects.
Speaking in a pre-conference ahead of the West Ham game, Mourinho said: “Now his body says enough, the club and myself want to keep the man. He will start the last match at Old Trafford and he will captain in front of the fans. The most important quality is to be a man and football is not full of them. Society is not full of them.So when you find one of them, you have to value and you have to keep.”
