Paul Ince hands warning to Ole Gunnar Solskjaer amid Manchester United’s average form

Manchester United legend Paul Ince has said that Ole Gunnar Solskjaer needs to find a solution to the club’s recent run of poor form. The Red Devils have done tremendously well in the second part of the season to come on the cusp of the top four, but they have recently suffered a couple of defeats which have slightly distanced them from the Champions League places.

Speaking to Paddy Power, Ince said that Ole has done a fantastic job in reviving the club’s top-four prospects this term, but the club need to get their act together to seal the objective of Champions League football for next season, he told: “They need to be picking up results, especially when they’ve still got the likes of Man City to play if they want to make those Champions League spots. Ultimately, Man United have to be in the Champions League. It’s simply not good enough if they’re not. Don’t get me wrong, Ole has done a fantastic job in getting them to this point, but they need to finish the job off.”

United appeared unbeaten under the tutelage of Ole in the Premier League until they suffered a 2-0 defeat on the road to Arsenal. Thereafter, they have been ousted at the quarter-final stage of the FA Cup by Wolverhampton Wanderers and the same opposition have piled the pressure by beating them in the Premier League once more.

As such, they find themselves two points behind the Champions League places at the moment, but the gap could extend further with fourth-placed Arsenal holding a game in hand. United’s immediate focus will shift to the Champions League where they are scheduled to host Barcelona during the first leg of the quarter-final stage. The Red Devils remain outsiders for the double-legged tie, but the fans will be hoping that the team can defy the odds after getting the better of Paris Saint-Germain during the previous round.
