ROONEY SCORES ANOTHER VITAL GOAL

Wayne Rooney once again proved that he is one of the indispensable members of the Manchester United squad after scoring the most important goal for Manchester United this season.

Wayne Rooney was part of the squad that was facing Tottenham, having just returned to the squad after missing three matches due to an injury.

Tottenham were dominating Manchester United in the first half of the match, but Wayne Rooney scored the crucial goal just seconds before the break to give United the lead in the match. It proved to be the vital goal as it sucked the life out of Tottenham in the second half.

Ashley Young, who was signed from Aston Villa for around £ 20 million in the summer, scored the second goal to give Manchester United a comfortable hold on the match. He then rounded off things with a spectacular effort late in the second half to give Manchester United all three points, and also to condemn Tottenham to the second defeat in a row.

The defeat brings an end to the title hopes of Tottenham, while it also reignites the race for the third position.

“I think it’s difficult to say because anything can happen. You can drop surprise points. I think that’ll happen, both teams will drop points, but the important thing is not dropping as many as your opponent and we’re experienced, we won’t get nervous, we’re enjoying it and the battling performance we gave today against a very good team tells you that we’re well up for it,” Manchester United manager Sir Alex Ferguson said when asked if this victory was extremely crucial in the title race.

United have once again brought down the five point deficit down to 2 points following this victory. United can now concentrate on reducing the deficit in the Premier League – in spite of having some of the best online Champions League odds they crashed out in the Group Stage, whilst they have also fallen by the wayside in the FA Cup and Carling Cup.
