UNITED RECORD FIRST LEAGUE WIN

Manchester United have recorded their first league win of the season thanks to the slim victory over arch rivals Liverpool on Monday night. The Manchester United players were under immense pressure for the Liverpool game having lost their first two league games of the season. They responded positively in the face of adversity to record their first league win this season.

England international Jadon Sancho has not been able to show his immense potentials at Manchester United since his move to the club from German Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund last summer. He scored just three league goals in his first season as a Manchester United player. Sancho was real for the first goal of the Liverpool game on 16 minutes off the assist from fellow forward Anthony Elanga. Manchester United should have scored before the goal from Sancho when Elanga hit the post. The well-taken strike from Sancho turned out to be the only goal of am entertaining first half as Manchester United put a depleted Liverpool side to the sword with a lot of chances created. The Red Devils could have scored more than one goal in the first half if they were more clinical in attack.

Just like what’s obtainable with the aforementioned Sancho, compatriot Marcus Rashford has not had the best of times in the last one year.Rashfordscored his first goal of the season after he doubled the lead for Manchester United eight minutes into the second half off the assist from French substitute Anthony Martial who came on for Elanga at the start of the second half. Manchester United preserved their two-goal lead until the final seven minutes when Egyptian national team star Mohamed Salah pulled a goal back for Liverpool. Manchester United thereafter held on to take the points via a 2-1 victory.

Manchester United are now up to number 14 on the Premier League log, while Liverpool are down to number 16 on the Premier League log.
