NO SANCHO, MAGUIRE FOR CHELSEA GAME

Jadon Sancho and Harry Maguire have both been ruled out of the Premier League clash between Manchester United and Chelsea on Thursday. Both Maguire and Sancho won’t be available for Manchester United when they play hosts to Chelsea in a rescheduled league game. The game was brought forward due to the FA Cup final commitment on the part of outgoing European champions Chelsea. The Blues made the FA Cup final after beating London rivals Crystal Palace 2-0 earlier this month thanks to the second half goals from the England international duo of Ruben Loftus-Cheek and Mason Mount and will face Merseyside giants Liverpool in the bid to win a first FA Cup title since the 2018 edition.

Sancho and Maguire were ruled out of the Chelsea game by interim Manchester United manager Ralf Rangnick during his pre-match press conference on Wednesday ahead of the game. The two England internationals were in the Manchester United squad that lost 3-1 at Arsenal in the league last weekend with Nuno Tavares, Bukayo Saka and Granit Xhaka getting the goals for the hosts, while five-time Ballond’or winner Cristiano Ronaldo scored the only goal of the match for the Red Devils. Ex-Borussia Dortmund and Manchester City winger Sancho played the whole game, while former Hull City and Leicester City centre back Maguire was left on the bench for the entire duration of the game following the bomb threats he received some days earlier.

According to Rangnick, Maguire will miss the Chelsea game due to a knee injury, while tonsillitis is the reason for the potential absence of Sancho for the game.

Rangnick and his Manchester United players have lost their last two games in the Premier League and only an home win over Chelsea would improve their slim chance of finishing in fourth spot which will guarantee Champions League football in the new season.
